A very good morning to all blog members.

What is loneliness, and why does it hurt? What are relationships, and how and why do they work the way they do?
Answering these questions, laying bare the heart's deepest secrets, is this book's aim. Since the dawn of our species, human beings in every time and place have contended with an unruly emotional core that behaves in unpredicted and confusing ways. Science has been unable to help them. The Western world's first physician, Hippocrates, proposed in 450 B.C. that emotions emanate from the brain. He was right-but for the next twenty-five hundred years, medicine could offer nothing further about the details of emotional life. Matters of the heart were matters only for the arts-literature, song, poetry, painting, sculpture, dance. Until now.
The past decade has seen an explosion of scientific discoveries about the brain, the leading edge of a revolution that promises to change the way we think about ourselves, our relationships, our children, and our society. Science can at last turn its penetrating gaze on humanity's oldest questions. Its revelations stand poised to shatter more than a few modern assumptions about the inner workings of love.

(as defined by Wikipedia)

So, how does this apply in the world of Search Engine Marketing?

It's no secret that it takes more time to get a top ranking in Google than in MSN and Yahoo. Yahoo and MSN tend to allow newer sites top rankings within weeks, while Google will make a new site wait - this is done to prevent spammers from hogging up the top rankings through massive link campaigns.

So, the SEO halo effect takes place when your site gets it's first top ranking. It seems that when your site achieves the much sought after #1 ranking for a popular keyword or phrase, to get the next ones are easier.

Case and point:

For my site, SEO for Google, that was the exact phrase I was optimizing for when the site was first launched in January 2005. I spent four months submitting to directories, writing and posting articles every two weeks, and I made sure I posted to my blog at least 5 times a week.

I knew I had to do all of this to overcome the "sandbox" that Google would place the site into. And in April of 2005, the site finally came "out of the box" and the phrase "SEO for Google" had the site somewhere around the 30's. It took another month's worth of focused effort to get phrase to the top spot.

Finally! after five months of continual effort, about 1,200 directory submissions, and article postings, all based on the key phrase "SEO for Google", the efforts paid off.

But, now the challenge was to expand on other phrases that people would enter to find out information on search engine optimization for Google. So, after using Wordtracker, I found nine more phrases to pursue:

  Comments

How to Write a Better Web Page Title

Titles are everywhere. Some people are defined by titles, some people loathe titles, and others like giving titles. Why do we do this? With so much information getting processed by our minds everyday, we need a way to categorize these groups of associated content in a quick referencing way.

This is the same methodology a search engine applies when it crawls a page. When you title a page, you are telling a search engine or user what the page is supposed to be about. We've all seen the one sentence summaries of television shows on the T.V. Guide. It allows for quick referencing and decision making by telling us what the show is going to be about.

This is part of the reason why naming your page titles is so critical to getting your site ranked. I can't tell you how many times I have seen a site that had one of the following two titles throughout the entire site: "untitled" or "company name".

While having the company name on all the pages could be a potential branding strategy, chances are, most visitors to your site don't know your brand name yet and are looking for the product or service that you're selling. You could incorporate the company name into the title, but it should be placed after the main message you want to convey about that particular page.

Every page should have a unique title. While you may have a subject that needs to be explained over a few pages, you should use the page title as an index of information for the reader. Sites that sell multiple products should have a unique title for every product. If you can't make the time to make each page stand out, why would you expect that page to ever appear in a search engine?

If possible, you should try to place your keywords in the title, since this will help the search engine determine where your page should be ranked. Remember, the search engines rank each page individually, that's why it's so important to use proper naming methods.

When you determine which keywords to use, go for a 4 to 6 word title when possible. After 58 characters, the title in the search engine results page will be truncated and will not be visible to the reader. Also, the longer the title, the less weight is given to each word.

The entire time you are conjuring up titles, always keep the reader in mind first. While some phrases may rank well in the search engines, a reader may never enter that phrase and you'll lose that targeted traffic you were trying to reach. Sometimes the phrases work out well for both the user and search engine, and in those cases success is usually quick to follow.

  Comments

Search Engine Optimization for Google

Search Engine Optimization for Google
With the recent Jagger update settling, many people find their sites no longer have the high rankings they had for so long enjoyed prior to the latest Google update.

So, the sites that lost these rankings are scrambling to find some answers as to why their site dropped. While it's my business to know the intricacies of how this particular update impacted the search algorithm, there are some common ground starting points that if you apply these to all of your sites, you should be able to survive any update intact.

Proper naming structure
Name your page titles with your keywords if possible
Always have a sitemap
Always include a robots.txt file
If you must use a re-direct, be sure it's server side, not with a meta refresh tag
Don't use hidden text
Make sure your keyword phrase is included in your H1 tags
Don't optimize for more than 2 keywords per page
Use text links where possible
In any product image, be sure to use the alt tag
Use hyphens, not underscores when you name a page file
Make sure your site has an error handling page
Create a Google Sitemap and submit it to them (This is in addition to a typical sitemap)
Offload all your js and css code
Don't forget about meta tags
Be sure to follow these simple guidelines and you won't need to worry too much anytime Google has an update - your site will not be impacted by any filters that are checking for spamming, hidden text, or anything that resembles cloaking.

  Comments

SEO for Blogs

While there are many reasons to blog, there are two primary uses that are becoming more widespread with blogging: To game Google Adsense, and to also game the search engines for better rankings.

Since Blogs are known to the search engines as daily snippets of information that are updated on a frequent basis, they get a lot of preference in the search results.

So from this, how do you optimize your blog?

Depending on the service you utilize, there are still some basics that you can apply. The two biggest blogging sites are WordPress and Blogger. If you are looking for an advantage with SEO, you should use Blogger since they are owned by Google, and you'll be indexed quicker.

Blogs aren't all that much different than a site. The power of a blog is from the frequency of the posting. If the search engines see a pattern of 3 postings per day, they will be very active on spidering that site. Depending on the topic of the blog, you may be able to boost your blog in the rankings if it's related to a hot topic on the Internet.

Now, to the actual optimization.

Since blogs are typically a few pages long, you only need to establish a few rules that will be applied sitewide:

Use an interesting title - Also known as linkbaiting - your title should captivate the user to read more
Try to use your blog keywords in the title - while it may be hard to always do this, by keeping the title related to the topic, your blog will always be relevant
Use the H1 tags - All blog editors allow for custom templates, so be sure to stylize your blog title in the H1 tags
Link to other blogs - Find other related blogs that your readers might find interesting, and ask for a link in return
Don't forget about your archives - You may post a topic that isn't hot at the moment, but comes up later - make sure your readers can find that posting
As stated above, the key to a successful blog is frequent postings. You don't need to write up an article everytime, two paragraphs and maybe some resource links is what a typical posting should be comprised of.

  Comments

The SEO Halo Effect

The halo effect is a cognitive bias that occurs when a person's positive or negative traits seem to "spill over" from one area of their personality to another in others' perceptions of them. Perfection does not mean you will not experience heartache, sadness or some of the less pleasing experiences, but it does mean that you are wonderful as you are and need not change a thing. Play fully – every moment of the way. Open your heart and love without bounds. When you open your heart completely and love another without conditions, people see the perfect person you are and get a glimpse of the God within you. Do not be afraid of rejection of any kind, because remember rejection does not mean anything is “wrong” with you, it is just a choice the other soul makes on it’s journey. You are complete and perfect by design and need not chance a thing about you to be loved – just love others and you will experience love.

Relationships have nothing to do with the other person. Knowing this puts you in a powerful place where you have control over how you feel and who you are going to be in the relationship. Initially there will be bliss and lots of joy, followed by opportunities to work on your soul. I once read that you ask for God to send you the perfect partner, but instead he sends you something much better – someone slightly less than what you expected. See the relationship as a sacred space where you can grow. Your soul knows that you will slowly re-member your magnificence and uses romantic relationships to show us that.

  Comments

Love

We all know this feeling of falling in love and seeing the amazing beauty in another. Couples fall in love blissfully and fall out of it with such heartache. Love does not have to be so difficult and as we all have grown to learn, you get out of something what you put into it. But there is a thin line to keep an eye on here. Our minds have grown to make us believe that we are “not complete”; “unfulfilled” or “unloved”, until we meet the love of our life. This was the mind talking (also known as the Ego), not our soul.

sometimes the hope is fulfilled and sometimes not.
lets wish everybody's hope will get fulfilled.

these influencing and dramatic waves
what a wonderful scene they create
making this world irradiate
look at the crests
and look at the troughs
going up then coming down
creating that mystic sound
having that blowing round
just compare these with
the life going around
what have you found?
aren't these waves looked like growing life
sometimes generating, sometimes destroying
sometimes enjoying and sometimes crying
